PTI Leaders Call for Indefinite Postponement of October 4 Long March

PTI Leaders Call for Indefinite Postponement of October 4 Long March

A majority of PTI leaders and central office-bearers have reportedly advised postponing the party’s planned October 4 long march indefinitely, citing security concerns and the political situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the report, an informal meeting chaired by KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi reviewed the province’s political and security situation, including reported raids on party leaders’ homes, arrests of workers and concerns over possible changes to the provincial government.

The meeting reportedly concluded that the march should be postponed and a new date announced only when conditions become more favourable. Afridi was also advised to convene an Apex Committee meeting to review the security situation in the province.

KP Information Secretary Shaukat Yousafzai separately wrote to the PTI central leadership, alleging that the federal government was considering emergency measures or Governor’s Rule in KP. These claims were presented as concerns raised by PTI officials and have not been independently established in the report.

The developments indicate that PTI’s October 4 protest plans remained under internal discussion as the party assessed security, political and organisational considerations.
